Edging Past Reality - a collection of short stories

Edging Past Reality - a collection of short storiesI tried I really, really tried Some of the ideas were good, but for the most part, the stories were warmed over Stephen King or Twilight Zone in awkward prose After getting through about half the stories and not feeling satisfied by any of them, I just gave up. This wasn t exactly a terrible read and although there were a few spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, there wasn t enough to make the book entirely worthless However, I will admit that I had a very hard time getting in to this book which made it especially hard for me to finish reading it at a good pace I can t quite put my finger on what exactly made it so hard to hold my interest but if pressed to define it, I would say that many of the stories just fell flat for me I felt like I had read them before by other writers However, there was one gem in this collection that I found myself becoming totally engrossed in And, when that story came to an abrupt end, I still found myself chuckling at the irony of it all Midnight Stroll Maybe I ll re read this after I ve completed my GoodReads challenge and hopefully it will be better the second time around. This collection of short stories is slick, dark, creepy and delightfully evil He takes no prisoners well, he does, but I won t spoil that tale for you , and I believe if he tried, he could take a sunny day in a springtime field and turn it into a horrifying place of well hang on a minute okay, he did do that, in The Meadow and that s just the second story in the book If you like happy endings, this collection is not for you But if you want stories which will make you smile as you are filled with relief that they are only stories, he is definitely your man And let s HOPE they re only stories Especially the one about the snow crabs. I really enjoyed the stories in this book I felt the author has a gift for maximizing the use of a few words Some of the stories are very short, but the author still sucks you into the tale I also found the stories very entertaining They were not boring like other short stories I ve read in the past Great job, Mr Fingerman Lillian Really good collection of horror short stories Well thought out and satisfyingly creepy My only minor complaint is with the formatting job on the Kindle Must have been three or four different fonts that changed in the middle of stories Just sayin Hey it was free, so no biggie But the stories were excellent Very Good Read. A scary read and truly original voice If you like The Twilight Zone or Tales of the Unexpected, then check this book out In my eyes, he s the modern day Edgar Allan Poe.
