This graphic novel starts right after the events of The Last Command by Timothy Zahn I didn t realize that this geaphic novel was connected to the Thrawn Trilogy until i read the introduction Needless to say, I loved it I m going to get the other books in this trilogy These books act as a bridge between the Thrawn Trilogy and the Jedi Academy Trilogy which i plan on reading next.

I bought this during the Dark Horse Digital farewell sale for their Star Wars portfolio on the last day before the comic book license goes back to Marvel Comics It truly is the end of an era as Dark Horse has defined Star Wars comic books for a generation Fearing that a few titles may no longer see print, I took advantage of the sale and bought the entire Dark Empire series which was among the first Star Wars stories that Dark Horse published.Reading the first issue, I could see immediately that this story and art didn t age well The good thing though is that its wrapped in an iconic Dave Dorman cover and that it features almost all of the recognizable characters from the original trilogy It may not have aged well like fine wine but it s still a good enough read to make me want the next issue, stat

This is a Good read, and it helps to fill in some important gaps, I must say that the comics from dark horse were very excellent, much better than the audio presentation.

We picked up this series at our LCBS a little bit ago but hadn t gotten around to reading it I picked up the first one this evening. So Luke and Lando were shot down over an Imperial City as the Empire is taking back the galaxy But internal strife via a civil war is keeping the Imperials busy Leia and Han rush to help them out Luke senses the force here He cautions the others to leave so he can battle this whatever himself His Jedi sister offers to stay and help.I am late to the comic book scene as well as the Star Wars universe Yes, I saw the original three in the theatre, but I was never that into the storyline Leia being a Jedi was news to me Looking things up in Wookiepedia confused me Leia s page indicates she has three children, none of them Kylo Ren Han s page acknowledges Kylo but not the others I suppose this is the problem with so many different storylines. This comic book reads a bit differently from the modern day comics my son and I are reading I like some of the art but not all of it Interestingly, there are four pages of text at the end of the comic that attempts to provide some background to the story It does not appear to have been written chronologically.I am looking forward to the balance of the series.
