Tamar helped with putting her Sukkah frame up The branches covering the top of the Sukkah have leaves the color of fall Tamar felt as though something were missing so she colored and cut out apples from paper and hung them around But still she felt as though something were missing She called on her friends to help her They brought in a table, chairs and they even made a poster with a blessing But still, there was something missing All of her friends were there and the Sukkah looked wonderful What do you think Tamar is missing Author Ellie B Gellman has created a wonderful story with friends sharing a favorite holiday Illustrator Katherine Janus Kahn brings the story to life with bright beautiful colors and lively characters Readers will enjoy learning about Jewish Culture Parents and teachers can open up dialogue with students to share in the delight of a culture, holiday and its meaning.

strangely, not the best book about sukkot i ve ever read.we got this as a gift from the PJ library fiona loves it, but, well, to be perfectly frank, her tastes are not that discriminating quite yet she likes anything with pictures and even some things without pictures like my norton edition of jane eyre, for example, or my trippy covered copy of the stranger.this is sort of flat in both the story and the illustration department hoping next month s book is a little inspiring.

This book is charming I was never as much a fan of this holiday as a kid as I was of some of the others, so I never really understood this book or Tamar s excitement Now, having gone a Sukkot without observing, this book is especially resonant with me.
